It’s a mystery to me that there are a so little reviews about Noveske rifles out there. They build quality guns and while the overly forum active and under-experienced AR15 owner will tell you that all AR15’s are built the same, a Noveske rifle will show you that’s simply not true. Yes, I am a Noveske fanboy, but for good reason. I try to approach gun reviews as unbiased as possible, but Noveskes get me all riled up inside and make me think how much I love them. This review like other reviews will be approached with as unbiased an opinion as possible, but I thought it fair to forewarn you that the Noveske rifle is as dear to my heart as the girl who took my virginity (she was a wild ride too).

The rifle uses a 14.5″ stainless steel barrel with the muzzle break pinning of your choice. Noveske says that the stainless steel barrel is their pinnacle of barrels when it comes to accuracy. I haven’t been able to decipher the accuracy difference between this gun with a stainless barrel vs my other guns with a chrome-lined barrel; for bragging rights and bling status the SS barrel has done its job. Noveske does also note that the barrel life is decreased by using this material, but it’ll take you 10,000+ rounds to get down to the accuracy of a chrome-lined barrel. I shot some coca-cola cans with it that day and ways able to hit targets at 40 yards within one or two shots. The second required shot is likely because I’m not a seal, competition shooter, nor do I get my rifle to the range more than two or three times a month.

The NSR rail system keeps the weight of the rifle down. I significantly prefer this rail system over the full rail systems that you can get on other rifles, especially for those of us that are biceptually challenged. To install the keymod section simple twist the screw loose and insert the locking mechanism into the slight and then tighten the screw. On this rifle I have both the Magpul (pictured below) and Noveske keymod rails; I found that the Noveske keymod system was the easiest to install.

The trigger pull has this crisp snap that after a few rounds becomes as familiar as a bachelors palm on a Wednesday night after a few episodes of Californication. It’s almost 1911-ish in its pull mannerism. Getting better at shooting means you don’t try to anticipate the shot and you train your finger muscles to perform smooth consistent trigger pulls. It felt like I WAS anticipating my shots, but because the trigger was connected to my brain. I knew with a certain amount of force that the trigger would break, spliff that gun powder, and send a round down range at blistering speeds. The trigger instills confidence; it makes you want to send one round, two round, three rounds, and more. The thrill of shooting is one reason you continue to pull the trigger, but also the giddiness that you’re hitting your targets spot one with surgical like precision. Trigger discipline is much easier with the Afghan N4, because it feels racy and as if it were a bio-mechanical extension of yourself.
